The tank was covered with two 2 inch thick layers of
fiberglass insulation. The seams were
staggered to minimize heat loss. The
second layer of insulation has a white heavy Kraft paper “all-service-jacket). The seams and insulation keepers will be
taped next to finish the insulation job.
OPERATION:
Took 3 ½ wheelbarrow loads of wood to bring the tank water
temperature up to 150ºF for the first time.
Since then, I have been firing the boiler when the tank temperature
falls below 130ºF and letting the fire die down or go out when the tank
temperature is at or above 170ºF.
